 A few Horse Facts:

Since horses can only see a few feet in front of them, when they are jumping they have to remember how big and how far away the fence is when they are about 3 strides away. They can't see it when they are up close..

When horses lift their heads up high to look at something, they're looking as far into the distance as they can see. To see things that are closer, they lower their heads.

Horses "colic" because they can't get rid of something in their stomach that causes them to get a bellyache.

Horses can only breath through their nostrils, so if a noseband is fitted too tightly it will obstruct the horse's airflow and may cause the horse to panic.

Touching your horse is a way of communicating with it, which is why stud grooms from several decades ago advocated touching horses all over their bodies as a way of soothing and calming them.

The tallest known horse was an English Shire called Mammoth which stood at 21.1 hands high. Know how high a hand is?

Many behavioral problems that horses exhibit are rooted from pain. Once the source of the pain has been eradicated the horses can be retrained successfully.
