Therapeutic Riding

Greener Pastures Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)3 therapeutic horseback riding center teaching mentally, physically, and emotionally challenged children.

Incorporating the physical benefits with the emotional gains achieved by the riders, therapeutic horseback riding is an all-encompassing therapeutic riding activity.

More than merely a riding activity, therapeutic riding is an actual therapy session benefiting the riders physically.
Using the methods taught and certified by NARHA
(North American Riding for the Handicapped Association),
we follow a strict set of regulations, and procedures
to ensure safety for our clients.

The benefits of horseback riding are as numerous as the types of disabilities and conditions served. Research shows that students who participate in therapeutic riding experience physical, emotional and mental rewards. Because horseback riding gently and rhythmically moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show tremendous improvement in flexibility, balance, and muscle strength. For individuals with mental or emotional handicaps, the unique relationship with the horse leads to an increase in patience, confidence and self-esteem.
 
Greener Pastures will always welcome donations of tack, equipment, and horses. We also welcome volunteers.
