Our HorsesAll of our horses are close to our hearts - each one is special in their own way with positive attributes that differ from each other. Lyra - a thirteen-year-old Arabian who longes, takes care of the young children, Lyra loves to do dressage. She is the barn favorite... (shhhh) Baby - a six-year-old quarter/draft cross, Baby is terrific on the trails, jumping, or having a lot of children grooming and loving on her! Bandit - a special horse, close to our hearts, Bandit was a rescue project. He came to us with no mane or tail, and taught us all that beauty is only skin deep - the heart is the essence of it! Macho - our wonderful Western horse, Macho loves to trail ride and be out riding! Journey - a five-year-old palomino paint who is presently in training for the basics of Western pleasure and three-day eventing, Journey is also to be used for therapy. Her sweet personality allows for children to groom and bathe her. We look forward to being able to use her for our lesson and therapy programs! Timmy - a wild Mustang from Wyoming, Timmy was rescued at five months of age and is developing nicely at Mission Bay. Through the Florida Wild Horse and Burro Rescue program, Timmy was adopted from the Bureau of Land Management, which is charged with protecting wild mustangs in 10 western states. Yanni - the barn mascot, Yanni is a miniature Shetland - terrific for young children, or for someone in a wheelchair to groom! Pepper - is an 11 year old Quarter/Arab cross who loves to jump, Pepper is an excellent trail horse, jumper, or barrel racer for an intermediate or advanced student! Tex - a 17 year old Mustang, Tex was taken from the range and raised by his human dad who, unfortunately, passed away. Now Tex allows children in therapeutic riding a chance to enjoy his gently personality, small stature, and for young children of any capacity to appreciate his ability to nurture them and not spook at anything. CQ & Ernie - Judy allowed us the pleasure of her horses and the attention she gave CQ and Ernie was spectacular. The only bad habit that one of them has is that Ernie can not get enough scratching on his butt... hard to get work done around the barn when you spend your time scratching him! Ernie is Quarter horse and CQ is a Paint. CQ got his name from his own natural markings which form the letters "C" and "Q" on his neck! We are so grateful for Judy's trust in us that she let her babies come to Mission Bay for they are truly a compliment to our family.
